Now, if this hyper-realistic 3D model of an adorable bear doesn’t conjure thoughts of a jolly Christmas, what will? Scanned and photographed from three different positions, this digital bear boasts all the intricate details of the party outfit its real-world twin is rocking, including the shiny-gold elements and hard-to-reach knit work of the Christmas sweater, all captured in ultra high resolution and bright, festive colors. And for all the tricky bits there were to be scanned, the scanning was completed in less than 30 minutes.

To get the texture this realistic, all we needed was three scans with Artec Leo, a set of pictures with a good camera, and the photo texturing algorithm in Artec Studio 16. Artec Leo was the scanner of choice for a reason: the only wireless professional scanner in the world, it provides interactive real-time capturing for the trickiest of objects. Leo’s advanced algorithms make scanning speedy and effortless, letting you focus on any additional manipulations if needed.

All the prep was kept to a minimum: just placing the bear on the Artec turntable to enable full-coverage scans, ensuring that the following registration would be smooth. Our scanning specialist then scanned the bear in a standing and two lying positions, taking pictures with a high-res camera along the way. An hour of processing in Artec Studio, and you can see the perfectly true-to-life result for yourself: zoom in and rotate the model to explore its shiny eyes, furry paws, and a scarf elegantly (and elaborately!) drawn around the bear’s neck to make you go “aww”.
